Tom is an experienced energy and resources lawyer and trusted advisor to multinational and ASX listed companies.
Tom advises clients on the development and operation of oil and gas, LNG, pipeline, mining, electricity and renewable energy projects throughout Australia and in respect of petroleum, mining, electricity, environmental and native title legislation and regulation. This work includes drafting and negotiating construction and procurement contracts, offtake agreements, commodity sales and other high-value commercial contracts.
Tom regularly advises clients in respect of M&A in the energy and resources sector, including on share sales, asset sales, farm-in/outs, joint venture arrangements, and royalty arrangements.
Tom’s practice also includes advising clients on the procurement of, and trading in, environmental products (including ACCUs and LGCs) and associated matters such as AFSL requirements.

Farm-out to ConocoPhillips Australia of an 80% interest in Commonwealth petroleum titles T/49P and VIC/P79 and the associated joint venture arrangements for those titles.
Bowen Coking Coal Limited
Acquisition of a 90% interest in the Burton-Lenton Joint Venture (which owns the Lenton Project and Burton Coal Mine located in Queensland) from New Hope and associated infrastructure sharing arrangements with Fitzroy Mining Operations.
Epic Energy
Bid to build, own and operate a hydrogen reticulation and storage system in Whyalla as part of the South Australian Government’s Hydrogen Jobs Plan, including in respect of the construction and procurement contracts for the project.
Magnetic Rail Group
Joint venture between M Infrastructure and PT Asian Bulk Logistics on its acquisition of One Rail Australia’s East Coast Rail business from Aurizon.
Northern Star Resources Ltd
Development of a 16.9MW solar, 12MW BESS and 24MW wind renewable facility for the Jundee Gold Mine, including in respect of regulatory approvals, power and LGC purchase arrangements, and financier consent deeds.
Santos Limited
Development of the Barossa Gas Project, including negotiating and drafting the contractual arrangements to allow the Caldita-Barossa Joint Venture participants to have their equity gas toll processed into LNG at the Darwin LNG plant.
