Tony is a past Chairman of Johnson Winter & Slattery and one of the founding partners of the firm
He has worked extensively in the corporate advisory area with particular emphasis on dispute resolution. He deals with contentious matters, specialising in the banking, resources and corporate sectors, and professional liability.
Tony also has a wealth of experience in advising on issues of directors' responsibilities and corporate governance, professional and directors' liability and risk management strategies. What distinguishes Tony from most other disputes practitioners is his extensive corporate and commercial experience both as a practitioner and as a company director.
With over 40 years’ experience, Tony has acted in many major Australian cases across all jurisdictions. He also has extensive experience in arbitrations both National and International as well as representing government and private individuals in Royal Commissions and other Inquiries.
He has lectured and examined at the University of Adelaide in commercial and corporate law and has significant experience as a director of a number of public and large private companies. Tony is a past member of the Council of the Law Society and Governor and Vice President of The Florey Medical Research Foundation of the University of Adelaide. He is currently Chairman of the Scott Group of Companies, Deputy Chairman of the Adelaide Community Health Care Alliance and Chairman of the listed transport company, K&S Corporation Ltd.
Acted in bringing to a successful conclusion, compensation claims instituted by it pursuant to section 50 of the ASIC Act against the auditors and former directors of the failed Westpoint Group of Companies. This litigation was one of the largest and most complex claims ever made in Australia.
Acting for GEAT in respect to large claims against former advisors for breach of duty.
Acted for one of the parties in the major plain packaging of tobacco products case before the High Court of Australia.
Acting for the claimants in an international arbitration with the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste.
Acted for the State of Victoria in claims brought by Tabcorp Holdings Ltd and Tatts Group amounting to approximately $1.6 billion.
