Prashanth has specialised in tax for over 10 years and advises on all areas of Federal and State Australian tax law.

He has advised on a variety of corporate and financing transactions including acquisitions and divestments, demergers, capital management initiatives, tax effective financing, the formation of funds, inbound and outbound investments, corporate restructures and employee share and option schemes and executive remuneration.

Prashanth has represented clients in disputes with the Australian Taxation Office and other revenue authorities and sought rulings on behalf of clients.

He is ranked as a leading tax lawyer by Chambers Asia-Pacific 2018 who has a "highly innovative and very detailed approach" and ability to "keep all the various perspectives in mind."

Providing general taxation advice on a variety of matters including domestic direct tax matters, capital gains tax and international tax (i.e. tax issues relating to inbound and outbound investment – CFCs, transferor trusts, tax treaties, thin capitalisation, transfer pricing issues, multinational anti-avoidance provisions and the diverted profits tax).

Formations Advice

Advising in relation to the formation of a holding company structure and intra-group financing arrangements having regarding to that tax requirements in Australia, Argentina, Canada, Luxembourg and the United States of America.

Negotiations

Successfully negotiating class rulings, product rulings and private rulings for financial products, capital management initiatives and a wide variety of transactions.

Infrastructure provider

Advising and representing infrastructure provider in relation to deductions under the right to future income provisions in Australia’s income tax consolidation provisions.

General Advising

Advising in relation to various financing instruments.

Advising and Negotiation

Advising in relation to transfer pricing issues arising out of intra-group debt and other intra-group transactions, including the negotiation of an APA.

Stamp Duty

Advising in relation to nationwide stamp duty issues relating to an Australia wide franchise in the FMCG sector.

Tax

Advising in relation to income tax, stamp duty and GST issues on group restructures.
