Jan Hards Special Counsel

Jan is a corporate lawyer who specialises in advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other complex commercial transactions.

He represents domestic and cross-border clients in a variety of sectors including health care, funds management, energy, telecoms and financial services. Jan also regularly advises on corporate law and governance and foreign investment matters.

Before joining Johnson Winter Slattery, Jan was a corporate lawyer in the London and Dubai offices of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP.

Advising the sellers of DAOU Vineyards on its sale to Treasury Wine Estates Ltd (ASX: TWE) in a deal worth up to US$1 billion (A$1.6 billion) (2023).

Insight Partners

Acting for Zone & Co (an Insight portfolio company) in relation to its acquisition of Infinet Cloud, a NetSuite partner specialising in international Payroll & Employee Centric solutions (2023).

ISP Tek Services

Advised the sellers on the acquisition by Close the Loop Inc (ASX:CLG) of ISP Tek Services and Captive Trade, two U.S.-based electronics refurbishing and trading companies (2023).

Diploma Holdings

Advised on Diploma’s acquisition of the West Coast Industrial Supplies businesses in Australia and New Caledonia.


Represented the shareholders of Presidian of the sale of this business to McMillan Shakespeare for A$115 million.

Apollo Global

Acted on Apollo’s acquisition of Open Colleges of Australia.

Raine Group

Acted on Raine’s acquisition of a majority interest in Nitro Circus Live.
