Johnson Winter Slattery (JWS) has appointed Liam Hickey as a Partner in the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity / Venture Capital teams. Liam will be based in Melbourne.
Liam specialises in advising private equity and venture capital funds, pension/superannuation funds, sovereign wealth funds and global asset managers – on a range of complex private capital transactions including leveraged buyouts, venture capital and growth equity investments and minority investments. He also advises on fund transactions and investments, and complex consortium governance arrangements between institutional investors.
Liam has represented a broad cross-section of corporates and funds including PSG, GSV, REST Super, Equis and Norwest Venture Partners. Liam previously worked at Baker McKenzie and the Private Equity team at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP (Boston office) and that experience will enhance our widely regarded cross-border practice.

Given his time in the US, Liam is well placed to guide US based private equity and venture capital funds on their investments into Australia.
