Our pro bono practice provides access to justice for members of our community who need it most.

We help disadvantaged and marginalised individuals and charities in the Australian community, focusing our work within the areas of:

  • First Nations Australians
  • vulnerable children
  • disability services and advocacy
  • economic disadvantage.

In financial year 2024, we averaged over 50 pro bono hours per lawyer.

“... thanks to JWS’s pro bono support, YLA was able to provide legal assistance to an additional 229 children and young people who were seeking help ... Without the support of our incredibly hard-working JWS secondees, YLA would not have been able to meet the additional demand for our services.”

Kate Richardson, Acting Associate Director, Youth Law Australia

“JWS’s pro bono support has been instrumental in the Human Rights Law Centre launching ... the Whistleblower Project. The firm has provided us with fantastic secondees to boost our internal capacity, for service-delivery, strategic litigation and law reform work”.

Kieran Pender, Senior Lawyer at the Human Rights Law Centre
