Sale of V8 Supercars zooms to close

News Written by

Leading independent law firm Johnson Winter & Slattery has advised Archer Capital on its sale of V8 Supercars Holdings Pty Ltd, a motorsport entertainment services company that owns and operates the Supercars Championships.

Under this agreement, Racing Australia Consolidated Enterprises Ltd (RACE) has acquired 100% of the shares in the entity which were previously held by Archer Capital, management personnel and teams that compete in the Supercars Championship series.

RACE is a consortium of Australian private investors led by Melbourne Entrepreneur Barclay Nettlefold, together with the Australian Racing Group and Henslow.

Corporate partner Andrew Williams led the transaction, along with senior associate Andrew Turner, associate Nathan Ricardo and law graduate Jared McLachlan. The team also included:

  • Partner David Beckett and Senior Associate David Li (banking)
  • Partner Andreas Piesiewicz (litigation)
  • Partner Ruveni Kelleher and Associate Megan Prouatt (employment)
  • Partner Ravi de Fonseka and Senior Associate Stanley Yu (IP/IT)

“We were uniquely positioned to assist Archer Capital in exiting its Supercars business due to our long-term working relationship with both organisations,” said Andrew Williams. “Our deep understanding of the business and structure allowed us to streamline risk identification and resolution throughout the deal process, helping Archer Capital achieve a smooth and clean exit from this long-term investment.”

Other firms acting in this transaction include Lander & Rogers (for the Buyer) and Kain Lawyers (for the Teams).
