Johnson Winter & Slattery (JWS) adds to its market leading Corporate and Resources practices with Bruce Adkins and Stuart Clague joining as new partners from Corrs Chambers Westgarth. Both based in Brisbane, they joined the firm in January 2020.
Bruce Adkins is one of Australia’s leading corporate and resources lawyers and is best known for his expertise in mining sector transactions. He brings more than 25 years' experience in M&A and project development, including new resources and infrastructure joint ventures, sales and purchases of major mining, transport, energy and industrial assets, the development of new projects, and high value procurement and supply contracts.
Stuart Clague is also a corporate lawyer with resources sector expertise advising on a range of transactions, including M&A, joint ventures, transport and infrastructure arrangements and commodity sales arrangements. Stuart has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating long term high value rail haulage and track access arrangements. He has advised Aurizon on a number of significant rail infrastructure projects.
JWS Managing Partner Peter Slattery said these two appointments will strengthen the firm’s corporate and resources practices nationally as well as further develop the firm’s Brisbane office.
“Our Energy and Resources practice is one of the largest and most widely experienced in Australia. Bruce and Stuart’s experience in the coal and energy sectors will broaden the range of capabilities within the team and better position us to assist clients investing in resources projects, whether that be by way of M&A activity or greenfield developments.”
JWS’ Energy & Resources practice spans all aspects of upstream oil and gas project development, downstream projects, mining, acquisitions and divestments (including regulatory advice such as FIRB approvals), transport, off-take, and economic regulation of essential services.
