New partner and lawyer promotions

Leading independent law firm Johnson Winter & Slattery has promoted one new partner, three special counsel and five senior associates, effective from 1 July 2020.

Kathryn Bertram will join the partnership in the firm’s taxation practice. Kathryn specialises in state taxes, tax audits and litigation. In her current role as Special Counsel, Kathryn has played a key role in coordinating the marketing and learning efforts of the national tax team. Kathryn joined the firm as a Senior Associate in 2014. 

Special counsel promotions include:

  • Rena Solomonidis, Dispute Resolution
  • Andrew  Ricciardi, Corporate,  Energy & Resources
  • Ken Chan, Intellectual Property & IT 

Rena Solomonidis specialises in litigating large scale commercial disputes in the context of corporate insolvency, contractual disputes, property matters and trade practices claims. Rena joined the firm as a Senior Associate in in 2014. She has taken an active role in client and marketing initiatives, as well as mentoring and developing junior lawyers.

Andrew Ricciardi is a corporate lawyer who specialises in corporate transactions within the energy and resources sector. He assists clients in advising on a range of issues, including equity capital market transactions, fundraising, corporate compliance issues, corporate governance, and public and private mergers and acquisitions.

Ken Chan is an intellectual property and technology specialist experienced in providing corporate and transactional advisory legal support for national and global corporations, particularly in the technology and health industries. He regularly negotiates and drafts technology licensing and procurement agreements, cloud agreements, professional services and software or hardware support/maintenance contracts on behalf of clients.

Senior associate promotions include:

  • Jaime Campbell, Dispute Resolution
  • Nicholas Mitchell, Dispute Resolution
  • Saskia van Loon, Restructuring & Insolvency
