Leading independent law firm Johnson Winter & Slattery has advised Qantas Airways Limited on its proposed acquisition of all of the remaining shares in Alliance Aviation Services.
Under the agreement Qantas will buy the remaining 80 per cent of the company via a scheme of arrangement, adding to its existing 20 per cent ownership that was purchased in 2019.
Alliance has been operating for more than 20 years and is a leading provider of contract and charter aviation services to sectors such as mining, energy and tourism across Australia. The acquisition will give Qantas greater fleet flexibility and operational resilience to participate in the resource sector’s strong growth.
Implementation of the scheme is conditional on obtaining competition approval.
Johnson Winter & Slattery’s competition team is led by partner Michele Laidlaw, supported by associates Rosie Short and Angelica Sorn. The corporate team is led by partner James Rozsa, supported by consultant Byron Koster, Senior Associate Jemma Potezny, associate Nathan Ricardo and law graduate Nathan Shapiro.
