Johnson Winter & Slattery has advised on the establishment of Gurīn Energy, a new Asian renewable energy development platform backed by Infratil Limited (Infratil).
Infratil is committing US$233 million to Gurīn Energy which is headquartered in Singapore and will be focused on greenfield renewable projects across Asia. Gurīn Energy is working on an initial pipeline of projects of 500 MW at various stages of development in the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan.
Advising the Development Team behind Gurīn Energy, the Johnson Winter & Slattery team was led by Partner Nicholas Grambas, assisted by Associate Emily Blight and Law Clerk Dominic Surace.
“Increasing momentum behind energy transition (across all technologies) and allocation of capital to Asia is driving different strategies for global investors to participate, and backing established development teams under a platform structure is a highly attractive way to play in this space, for both existing and new global investors,” Nicholas Grambas said.
“The experience and track-record of the Gurīn Energy management team (led by Assaad W. Razzouk) combined with Infratil’s global success in establishing and funding renewable energy projects creates a dynamic new development platform in Asia.”
Johnson Winter & Slattery worked closely with both Gurīn Energy’s new CEO, Assaad W. Razzouk and their Singapore Counsel, Linklaters, in closing the deal.
