A different structure

Low leverage model

We recognise that superior outcomes are achieved on strategic and complex matters through the hands-on involvement of expert senior lawyers. We therefore maintain a higher ratio of partners to lawyers than our rivals, and focus on assignments suited to this low leverage structure. This means graduates and young lawyers are involved in major matters right from the start. They work directly alongside partners and clients, providing unique development opportunities and the chance to develop strong client relationships early on in their careers.

No fixed internal silos

Comparatively we have a relatively flat internal structure with no fixed work groups. This is to ensure the best people and the right resources are pulled together on each assignment, regardless of their primary area of practice or location. Graduates and lawyers are not confined to practice areas, providing variety of work and broad experience gained from working across all practice areas with lawyers from each office.

No time recording budgets

As a commercial law firm we are still required to record our time and bill our clients, but we choose not to set individual or group billable hour budgets. This means that all our lawyers can focus on producing excellent work, developing their skills and working together without undue pressure of the burden of budgets.




We believe that a diverse range of experiences helps to develop the legal and commercial skills required to provide first class counsel to clients, and the necessary foundation for later specialisation in your career.

From clerkship right through to partner, we encourage and support all our lawyers to proactively develop and manage their careers. Lawyers are not pigeon-holed in the early stage of their careers, allowing them to work across a variety of practices and pursue their interests as they develop.

Our clerks and graduates work with senior lawyers across all of our practice areas giving them the unique opportunity to develop a broad base of experience early in their legal careers.
