21 June 2019: Leading independent law firm Johnson Winter & Slattery has promoted four new partners and one special counsel, effective as of 1 July 2019.

The promotions will further bolster the firm’s strength in Disputes, Corporate Transactions, Tax and Energy and Resources.

Christopher Beames, Partner, Dispute Resolution

Chris is a commercial dispute resolution lawyer with experience across a range of sectors including insolvency, financial products, energy, public utilities, defence, and beverages.

He assists clients with disputes and litigation in various forums including Court proceedings and appeals, expert determination processes, arbitrations and mediations, regulated price determinations and investigations conducted by regulators and insolvency practitioners.

Sophia Bobeff, Partner - Corporate, Private Equity

Sophia is a corporate lawyer specialising in M&A transactions, joint ventures and general corporate and commercial matters. She assists clients in successfully navigating their way through large scale and complex transactions. 

George Croft, Partner, Dispute Resolution, Energy & Resources

George is a dispute resolution lawyer specialising in the mining, oil & gas and electricity sectors. His experience spans construction-related disputes within these sectors, as well as advising electricity generators and retailers in operational matters and supply-side issues with fuel producers. George also advises mining companies and onshore producers regarding land access and native title issues.

Andrew Wilton, Partner - Energy & Resources, Projects & Construction

Andrew advises on the development of construction and infrastructure projects across Australia, principally in the energy and resources and commercial property sectors, as well as a range of commercial transactions covering commodity sale and purchase agreements, land acquisitions and disposals, infrastructure access arrangements, commercial leasing and joint venture arrangements. 

Julian Wan, Special Counsel – Tax

Julian is a tax lawyer specialising in corporate and international taxation. He advises both listed, unlisted and multinational clients on the taxation implications of mergers/acquisitions, inbound and outbound investments. Julian also has extensive in-house corporate tax experience with a large multinational corporation.
